The International Women Day, when a person in Pakistan or anywhere in the world discuss about this day, I believe he/she will remember Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and her struggle for women empowerment because SMBB always emphasized over the women empowerment and she worked for it.

What i understand from her teachings about the women empowerment, it’s the right to be economically independent, to be educated and make choices, to have the opportunity to select a career, to own property, to start a business, rationally plan and balance profession and family.

Pakistan Peoples Party is marching on progressively with the women in Pakistan from the day it was founded and considered as a liberal and educated party, has always ensured equal rights for women in every field of life and took remarkable steps for empowering women and to end gender discrimination in the country. It’s mission is to mobilize the collective strength of women to turn this country into a safe land.

Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto took measures to protect rights of women and by making the welfare of women an integral part of social, political and economic reforms. Shaheed Benazir Bhutto introduced various women-friendly policies to revive their status in society and to reduce their socio-economic hardships. Asif Ali Zardari believed in the in the protection of women’s rights and their empowerment and had taken several steps in the previous government for providing equal opportunities for women in all walks of life according to the manifesto of the party.

The practical measures that paved way for social uplifting of women and also engendered a sense of security among women, some of the remarkable steps for empowering women in Pakistan by PPP are …
